Robling was presented with the 2010 award during MSBA’s Summer Institute which was held Aug. 5 and 6 in Brooklyn Center. Representatives from area school boards, including Shakopee, Prior Lake/Savage, and Jordan, attended the institute. In presenting the award, Kirk Schneidewind, MSBA’s Associate Director of Government Relations, said, “Sen. Robling is known for her common sense, independent streak, and willingness to ask the difficult questions in committee that most others are thinking but not saying. She saved schools a number of dollars with the amendments she put into bills moving through the K-12 committee.” Schneidewind, who attends numerous Senate E-12 Education Committee meetings, continued, “Her strength is her willingness to ask the tough questions and proceed with changes that will make the bills more workable for public school districts, families and students. Without her critical eye for detail, school districts would likely have many more rules and regulations that they would have to face each year.” Also recognized by MSBA, a non-partisan association, were Sen. Tom Bakk (D-Cook), Rep. Marsha Swails (DFL-Woodbury), and Rep. Connie Doepke (R-Orono). |

The Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA) has named Sen. Claire Robling (R-Jordan) as one of four Outstanding Legislators for 2010 for her work in helping students in K-12 education. This is the second consecutive year Robling has been selected for the Outstanding Legislator Award.
